Portland Public Library

The Portland Public Library recently underwent a pretty extensive renovation. While I had never set foot inside there before that, what the boys & I saw there last week was impressive.

They loved this statue by the front door:

We toured around while we waited for a presentation in the Children’s Room about lobsters. I showed them a real card catalog, and retro typewriter and microfiche.

Then, about halfway through the lobster event, I realized my parking meter had run out many minutes before. We bolted to our ticketless car, caught our breath & moved on to the Old Port.

A fun afternoon!

About gumbygoogoo

I love Maine. I hate mosquitoes. I prefer the bottom half of a muffin to the top. Baseball yes. Boxing no. Oh, and I have 3 boys in middle school. This is my blog.
