The Drive Home

It was on this note that we left Virginia Beach. OK, you will rise again. Duly noted.

Time to take a ride on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel! In his recent map phase, C would always be sure to designate that Eastern Shore area across the bay as part of Virginia. I always loved that. Stikler for the details, that kid. So made sure to point out more than once that we’d actually be visiting the point! But first, we had to cross that big bay.

And that crossing ain’t cheap.

Tankers:

Hmmmm. Good planning. This is a long bridge!

Wait. Bridge and tunnel. See the gap around the bend up ahead in the photo? We’re goin’ under. Again, good planning. Guess there should be a spot or two for boats of all heights to pass. Glad someone was thinking about this stuff.

Look! We made it! It’s “the point”! We’re still in Virginia!

As I discovered as we drove up the peninsula, it actually consists of 3 states. Who knew? Not me. I guess people call the area Delmarva. Catchy. And apparently they have all the McFood you could possibly ever eat.

On the last night of the trip we slept in Newark. Right next to the airport. Apparently, the twins still weren’t really getting the hang of sharing a bed. Poor T. Maybe I shoulda tried swaddling them and giving them binkies. That worked the last time they shared a bed……er, pack n play.

Hope you enjoyed the multi-day recap of our big family road trip! Now back to the monotony of everday life.
